The log cabin dream at Kvitfjell

The log cabin dream at Kvitfjell

There are many criteria to fulfil when buying your dream cabin. For Kim Hansen and his family, there were no exceptions. It had to have easy access to ski and alpine slopes, as well as facilities such as restaurants and cafés.

After years of pondering

After a few years of pondering and speculating, the Hansen family fell for an Øverbygg cabin in Kvitfjell. The road there would prove to be a seamless process.

Travel distance was important

With two children aged 6 and 2, travel distance played a major role. «We set a limit of three hours' travel time, but wanted something around 2,5 hours. As my wife is Irish, we have family in Ireland and the USA, so other transport options were important.»

The family in Ireland can now take the train from Gardermoen to Ringebu, making it very easy to travel here.

Calm and feeling

«We wanted a proper cabin that gave us calm and a certain feeling – and log construction gave us this,» says Kim. The result was a warm and inviting cabin that the family actively uses both summer and winter.

For the Hansen family, the cabin in Kvitfjell has become the perfect retreat – close enough for spontaneous trips, but far enough away to really feel like getting away.
