1. About the business
Faun Gruppen AS is Norway's largest producer of cabins and holiday homes. The group was established in 2006 and over nearly 20 years has become the market leader in the sale and construction of cabins in Norway.
The cabins are sold and delivered under brands such as Familiehytta, Nordlyshytter, Leve Leiligheter, Telemarkhytter and Øverbygg. They are produced as precut building kits and delivered to customers across Norway. Assembly is carried out by Faun Montasje AS, a wholly owned subsidiary. Faun Montasje uses its own fitters and site managers with specialist expertise in assembling cabin kits.
The group operates primarily in the Norwegian market, with Norwegian customers and largely Norwegian suppliers. The group also operates in Sweden through Øverbygg Sverige. Building materials are purchased mainly through Gausdal Landhandleri, the group's main supplier of timber and building materials.
The group has around 75 employees in the parent company and a total of around 223 employees including subsidiaries. The parent company Faun Gruppen AS is wholly owned by Sportlov Bidco AS.
2. Policies and procedures
Faun Gruppen AS has established a written procedure for meeting its obligations under the Transparency Act, approved by the Group CEO and in force from 1 July 2022 (last revised 18 June 2026). The due diligence assessments are carried out in line with the OECD model for responsible business conduct and comprise:
- An annual working meeting with a risk assessment of internal working conditions and health and safety in the assembly operations
- An annual questionnaire to selected suppliers and business partners
- Searches of open sources on suppliers and business partners
- Prioritisation of measures based on the risk mapping
Responsibility for implementation lies with the Technical Director, with overall responsibility resting with the Group CEO. Employees and partners may raise any concerns directly with the Technical Director or the Group CEO.
3. Risk assessment and findings
The overall assessment is that the risk of breaches of fundamental human rights and decent working conditions is low for Faun Gruppen AS. This is because the group largely sells to the Norwegian market, uses Norwegian suppliers and operates within Norwegian law. The mapping has identified two risk areas that are followed up specifically:
Risk area 1: Foreign carpenters on rotation
Faun Montasje AS uses foreign carpenters on a rotation basis. The risk relates to compliance with Norwegian rules on pay, working hours, rotation arrangements and accommodation, as well as health and safety practice on the building site.
Likelihood: Medium — this is a known risk area in the industry.
Severity: Medium — a breach would primarily affect the individual worker.
Findings from this year's mapping:
- Following a review with Terje Lindholm (managing director of Faun Montasje AS) at a dedicated internal working meeting in June 2026, we can confirm that wage payments are in line with the generally applicable collective agreement.
- The procedure manual and health and safety manual were presented at the meeting. They are available in SmartDok, and each employee must sign off during onboarding that they have familiarised themselves with the procedures and instructions in the manuals.
- The Labour Inspection Authority carried out three (3) inspections on the building site in 2026. No deviations or breaches were uncovered regarding health and safety, working conditions, contractual matters or working hours. This is documented in inspection reports.
Risk area 2: Sub-suppliers abroad
Gausdal Landhandleri purchases some goods from sub-suppliers outside Norway. The risk relates to child labour, forced labour, environmentally harmful production and breaches of workers' rights in high-risk countries.
Likelihood: Low to medium — Gausdal Landhandleri is an established Norwegian operator with its own supplier requirements.
Severity: High — breaches in production countries can be serious and difficult to detect.
Findings from this year's mapping:
- Through a questionnaire, Gausdal Landhandleri has explained and confirmed that it has its own ethical guidelines for suppliers and carries out its own due diligence assessments.
- We have received their own statement under the Transparency Act for the 2025 calendar year, together with a document on ethical guidelines (dated 29 January 2025).
4. Measures and follow-up
Based on this year's mapping, there is no need for measures beyond the ongoing procedures.
5. Duty to provide information
